Big changes are now in place for rental properties in New South Wales!
From 23 March 2025, new water efficiency standards come into effect, introducing additional responsibilities for landlords. If you own an investment property, it’s crucial to understand these changes and ensure your property remains compliant.
What’s Changing?
Under the updated legislation, all toilets in rental properties must have dual flush systems with a minimum 3-star rating as per the Commonwealth Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards (WELS) scheme. This means older toilets that don’t meet these standards will need to be upgraded — otherwise, landlords risk non-compliance and may lose the ability to charge tenants for water usage.
Are You Compliant?
At Bob Berry Real Estate, we’ve been working proactively to prepare our landlords and their properties for these new requirements.
We understand that navigating legislative changes can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. We’re here to guide you every step of the way and make sure you stay compliant — and continue to maximise your investment returns.
